June 2024 · 3 minute read

Former American Idol contestant Sarah Ross is fast becoming the name on everyone’s lips, she has been featured on Rolling Stone Country, and CMT, while her debut EP ‘Calm Before The Storm‘ has amassed over 10million streams and debuted on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

Now, she is back with new single ‘Doin’ Just Fine‘ which is the first track to be taken off her long awaited second EP which is due for release very soon. Here we speak exclusively to Sarah Ross about her new music, tour plans, musical icons, American Idol, and much, much more;

Growing up who inspired your love of country music?

My entire family listened to a lot of country music. We grew up in the Blueberry Capital of the world on a horse farm and it kind of felt like the “norm” in my town. I love Martina Mcbride, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Chris Ledoux.. The list goes on and on.

Who are your musical icons?

I pull from many genres in my music. I love Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Eminem, Bob Marley, The Eagles.. Etc.

If you could collaborate with any act who would you choose?

I would LOVE to collab with Miley Cyrus. Her music is very diverse.

How excited are you to be releasing your new EP?

It feels like it’s been a long time coming. I’m finally learning who I am as an artist, but I think change will be endless because of my love for so many genres.

What can fans expect from the record?

The music I feel is diverse. I have some slow tempo country, pop songs, a little bit of a rock and roll sound, some r&b, and traditional country.

Do you have any plans to tour your new music?

Yes, I would love to go out on tour again as soon as possible. Performing is my favorite part of being an artist.

Can UK fans expect to see anytime soon?

I’d love to get out to the UK! I visited for the first time last year and it was beautiful.

How excited are you about the growth of UK country?

It’s awesome that more and more of the world is appreciating and accepting the concept of country music. It allows for growth of fans, friends, and travel.

What do you think sets country apart from pop?

The melodies of pop music and country sometimes are different and the concept of writing is different. But not completely. Pop music and country music have been crossing over constantly recently.

How much did you enjoy your American Idol experience?

It gave me the confidence I needed to actually dive completely into the music industry. Being able to stand in front of four people I look up to and perform is absolutely surreal.

Are you hoping to perform live on the reboot of American Idol?

If that is possible, absolutely.

What do you hope to achieve over the next ten years?

I’d hope to be known worldwide for doing what I love the most.
